The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) – the government entity in charge of ensuring excellence and sustainability in energy sector in Abu Dhabi – welcomed a delegation from the Saudi Arabia’s Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), to enhance cooperation and outline joint efforts towards a more sustainable future for the wider region.

During the visit, DoE reviewed the latest developments of Energy sector in Abu Dhabi, the UAE, and the region, and highlighted its experience in adopting the best practice and effective working mechanisms, as well as its approaches in governance and corporate excellence. DoE also reviewed its current and future development plans.

His Excellency Eng. Mohammed Juma bin Jarsh Al Falasi, Undersecretary of DoE, received the delegation, in the presence of Abdullah Mohammed Al Khemeiri, Strategic Affairs Executive Director; Dr Shamma Al-Malek, Strategy, Performance and Quality Director; Mohamed Al Rumaithi, Financial and Administrative Executive Director; and Maher Al Makhamreh, Excellence Senior Specialist. SWCC delegation included Attiyatullah bin Khoder Al-Juhani, General Manager of Quality Management and Business Excellence; Ahmed Morshed, Director of Business Excellence; Hani bin Abdulaziz Al-Hanati, Director of Quality Management; Adel Mohammed Al-Subhi, Director of Strategic Planning; and Salman bin Mousa, Director of Quality and Excellence Projects.

HE Al Falasi highlighted the significance of the visit, which comes in continuation of the permanent partnerships between the two countries to address various sustainability challenges in the region, and enhance mutual collaboration in outlining a future direction for energy sector. Al Falasi emphasised that the visit is an opportunity to exchange best practices, insights, and experiences, fostering integration amongst all organisations in the region, in line with the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership. He valued cooperation efforts with SWCC to promote energy sector across the region.

"DoE adopts the world’s best practices that ensure continuous development, and improve energy and water sector in Abu Dhabi and the UAE. This is aligned with the UAE Centennial 2071 and the UAE Vision 2021 to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world, as well as the Abu Dhabi Plan 2030 to create a sustainable water, electricity, and sanitation sector that optimises the use of resources. DoE’s excellence efforts focus on instilling a culture of innovation creativity, and continuous improvement and development, to ensure the DoE’s best organisational and departmental performance. DoE adopts Abu Dhabi corporate excellence model, comprising vision achievement, innovation, and corporate enablers including the effective management of assets and resources. This ensures compliance with the highest standards of transparency, integrity, governance, and effective risk management and business continuity, and encouraging work environment as well. This is aligned with DoE’s vision to power the economy, sustain people, and protect the environment," said HE Al Falasi.

SWCC delegation applauded the outstanding successes of Abu Dhabi and the UAE in energy and sustainability, praising the DoE’s efforts to strengthen collaboration and facilitate exchange of knowledge and experiences with the SWCC, which achieves leadership and mutual interests in energy and water sectors in the region.
