ABU DHABI, UAE

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), the UAE’s global platform for accelerating sustainable progress and hosted by Masdar, has signed an agreement with the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) to continue as Principal Partner for ADSW 2026.

Signed by His Excellency Eng. Ahmed Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy and Masdar Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, the agreement ensures that the DoE, an ADSW Principal Partner since 2019, will continue to support ADSW’s goal of advancing sustainable progress in the UAE and beyond.

Hosted by Masdar, ADSW unites world leaders, investors and innovators to accelerate real-world solutions across interconnected global systems. Under the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” ADSW 2026 will mobilize action for energy, finance, technology, and society to be future-ready, transforming ambitious ideas into practical, scalable solutions across sectors.

Commenting on the partnership, His Excellency Eng. Ahmed Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, said: “As Principal Partner of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026, the Department of Energy is reaffirming its commitment to building an advanced, sustainable, energy ecosystem that supports the UAE’s future aspirations. The rapid growth in data centers, digital services and artificial intelligence is transforming how our economy operates, and it is also increasing our electricity demand.”

His Excellency Added: “AI will be a critical enabler for us, helping to optimize grids, integrate clean energy sources and improve efficiency across the system, even as AI-driven technologies themselves become a major new source of demand. Our role at ADSW 2026 is to work with partners to harness these technologies responsibly, accelerate decarbonization and improvements in energy efficiency, and ensure that Abu Dhabi’s energy system remains reliable and competitive in a more digital, low-carbon future.”

Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, said: “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy are united in our long-standing ambition to supercharge sustainable progress in the UAE and beyond, and support our nation’s economic diversification and decarbonization efforts for the benefit of future generations. We are proud to continue our partnership with the Department of Energy and we welcome them back as Principal Partner for ADSW and as a new Principal Partner for the Y4S Annual Forum.

The first major event in the global sustainability calendar, ADSW 2026 will begin with the annual IRENA Assembly, followed by the Opening Ceremony and the Zayed Sustainability Prize Awards. The ADSW Summit and Dialogues will bring together global leaders for impactful discussions, fostering collaboration, unlocking investment opportunities, and enabling cutting-edge partnerships. With over 50,000 participants from more than 170 countries expected, ADSW 2026 will serve as a powerful platform for global engagement, business growth, and climate action.

The three-day Y4S forum at ADSW 2026 is designed to inspire, empower, and prepare young people to lead with purpose and innovation, with a program that positions the next generation at the heart of sustainable growth.

The Department of Energy is responsible for the planning and direction of Abu Dhabi’s energy sector. Its role includes enacting policies and regulations and developing strategies to ensure an effective energy transition that underpins Abu Dhabi’s sustainable growth, all while protecting consumers and minimizing negative impact on the environment.
