ABU DHABI, UAE

His Excellency Eng. Ahmed Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE), stressed that innovation fuels sustainable development in the UAE and is the key to ensuring the community’s prosperity and forecasting the future.

Speaking on the launch of UAE Innovates 2022, H.E. noted: “The UAE is committed to positioning itself as a global hub for innovation, lending its support to all efforts to develop key economic sectors and ensure their competitiveness now and in the future. Innovation undoubtedly plays a leading role in the energy sector and sustainability ambitions in the UAE, particularly in light of the tremendous challenges the world is going through with climate change. The UAE has taken the lead in efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 – an objective that calls for multiplying efforts and coming up with new technologies in various energy-related fields, most notably renewable energy and carbon capture technology, among others. This, in turn, helps reduce carbon emissions and meet Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s climate and environmental commitments.

“Innovation begins when an individual takes the first steps towards learning – both in the classroom and in life as a whole. Innovation should be the engine of the education system in order to empower young people to find unconventional solutions to the challenges, which will ultimately be in the best interest of the country in the short and long terms,” H.E. explained. “We are confident in the UAE’s ability to advance into the future, led by its wise leadership, rallying all resources and talents to achieve its strategic objectives. Innovation will certainly have a pivotal role to play in the national system.”
