ABU DHABI, UAE

His Excellency Eng. Awaidha Murshed Al Marar, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE), asserted that Barakah Unit 2 entering start-up stage reaffirms the UAE leadership’s will, resolve to achieve the seemingly impossible, and its commitment to building a sustainable future for the UAE.

“Commencing the start-up stage for the new unit is a significant step to support the energy sector in Abu Dhabi and the UAE in its efforts to ensure sustainability, preserve the environment, and join the global fight against climate change,” H.E. added. “The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy is working with partners and stakeholders to develop policies and executive regulations that will transform the energy sector, drive sustainable development, and supply clean and renewable energy, in line with the objectives of the UAE Energy Strategy 2050.”

“Barakah Nuclear Power Plant contributes significantly to these ambitious objectives, all the while cementing the UAE’s status as a regional and global leader in the eco-friendly energy sector, and highlighting its role in developing solutions for the world's most pressing climate challenges in order to ensure a safe, sustainable future for all,” H.E. Al Marar concluded.
